Dr. Basem A Khalil is a UK-trained Consultant Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon at King’s College Hospital London – Dubai, with a subspecialty in paediatric colorectal surgery.

Before joining King’s, Dr. Basem held a consultant post at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, where he served as Head of the Department of Paediatric Surgery and Secretary of the hospital’s Medical Staff Committee.
He also served as Regional Specialty Professional Adviser for Paediatric Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England for the North West of England, and was one of two surgeons running the hospital’s short gut syndrome service.
Alongside his clinical role, he held an Honorary Senior Lecturer post at the University of Manchester and the University of Salford.
He subsequently joined Sidra Medicine in Qatar as part of the Founding Faculty of Paediatric Surgery, serving as Director of Neonatal Surgery, before returning to the UK as Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
